China has a lot more to teach Africa than the US does. China is developing it’s economy and technology quickly but the average per capita income is under $1000. China’s goal is to get it to $3000 by 2020. I’m told by my students from the countryside that farming is still done with a horse and plow in most areas. China is literally lifting itself by the bootstraps.
Most of us Americans can’t bend over far enough to reach our bootstraps. Africa needs to watch China closely for ideas that are affordable and effective. Scalable transportation is one area of opportunity.
