The study says that people tell lies in about one-fourth of their daily activity with other people. They tell more lies when talking on the telephone. People tell fewer lies using email or talking face to face. Most of the lies were about small things.
The study of 30 students showed that lies were told 37% of the time on the telephone, 27% in face-to-face talks and 14% in emails. Scientists believe that it is easier to hide a lie when the other person cannot see our face or body actions. Since an email is in written form, it is harder to deny what was said.
